Shunta Morimoto was born in Kyoto, Japan in December 2004. In 2017, he won the Fukuda Scholarship Award in Japan. In February 2022, he was awarded unanimously the First Prize in the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, playing the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
He had performed 4 concerts in 2023 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in England, including his debut in London with the orchestra playing 4th piano concerto of Beethoven. In 2024, he won the first prize at the Alicante International Piano Competition. He has given concerts in England, Germany, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Italy, USA, and Japan, South Korea, performing solo repertoire, chamber music and piano concertos.
He currently studies with Dmitry Alexeev at the Royal Collage of Music in London as a RCM scholar. He is also a student at the International Piano Acdemy in lake Como in Italy, and participates in the Masterclasses of the Academy.
