Mayuko Narutani is a Japanese pianist recognised for her versatility as both a soloist and chamber musician. Through her expressive musicality and technical brilliance, she continues to captivate audiences in Japan and abroad. She is represented by music agency FIERTÉ. In 2023, she earned Fourth Prize at the Basel International Piano Competition. The previous year, she won First Prize at the 5th Japan Chamber Music Piano Competition, which included the honour of performing with members of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Her chamber music achievements include the highest prize at the 2nd Bechstein Chamber Music & Piano Competition and Third Prize (First Prize not awarded) at the Salzburg=Mozart International Chamber Music Competition in Tokyo 2021. Mayuko's passion for chamber music began during her high school years, when she founded a violin-piano duo “Duo Naru”. The duo has continued to perform for more than eight years, giving regular concerts in her hometown to make classical music more accessible to local audiences. Through these performances, she developed a deep commitment to sharing music beyond the concert hall. Mayuko is a graduate of the Music High School attached to the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and the Faculty of Music (Piano Major) at Tokyo University of the Arts. She has been mentored by Akiyoshi Sako, Yuya Tsuda and Takahiro Hoshino. Currently, she is studying with British pianist Colin Stone at the Royal Academy of Music, where she holds a scholarship. In 2026, she was awarded the Royal Academy of Music's Beethoven Prize and was selected to represent the Academy at the Sheepdrove Piano Competition, where she won Third Prize. She was awarded a scholarship in 2025 by the “Wakai Me wo Sodateru Kai” (Association for Nurturing Young Talents) in Japan.
