Roman Kosyakov is a prizewinning pianist and laureate of numerous international competitions. Most recently, he was awarded Third Prize and The Bridget Doolan Prize for the best performance of a Mozart work at the 12th Dublin International Piano Competition (Ireland, 2022). His earlier successes include First Prize, Orchestra Prize, and Audience Prize at the XV Campillos International Piano Competition (Spain, 2021); the Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition String Ensembles Section win as part of the Fitzroy Piano Quartet (UK, 2020); Second Prize at the UK Piano Open International Piano Competition (UK, 2020); First Prize and Orchestra Prize at the 14th Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition (UK, 2018), performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Fourth Prize at the 1st Saint-Priest International Piano Competition (France, 2017); Gold Prize at the 3rd Manhattan International Music Competition (USA, 2018); and First Prize and Audience Prize at the 10th Sheepdrove Piano Competition (UK, 2018).

Born into a musical family, Roman made his orchestral debut at the age of 12 performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major. He graduated in 2012 from the Central Music School in Moscow, where he studied with Farida Nurizade, and in 2017 from the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatoire under Vladimir Ovchinnikov. From 2017 to 2021, he studied on a full scholarship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Pascal Nemirovski. Roman has appeared in major venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, and the USA, including Kings Place, St James's Piccadilly, St Mary's Perivale, and Cadogan Hall in London; Bridgewater Hall in Manchester; Sursa Performance Hall at Ball State University (Indiana, USA); and Teatro Juan Bravo in Segovia, Spain. He has also performed at the Leamington, Battle, Barrow, Furness Classical, North Norfolk, West Meon, and European Chamber Academy (Leipzig) festivals. His orchestral collaborations include performances with the Royal Philharmonic, Hastings Philharmonic, English Symphony, Bangor University, and Basingstoke orchestras.

In 2019, Roman received The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Silver Medal from The Musicians' Company (UK) and became a member of its Yeomen Young Artists' Programme. The same year, he was invited to represent and launch the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition at the House of Commons in London. He was also a recipient of the Denis Matthews Memorial Trust Award, a Kirckman Concert Society Artist, and a Drake Calleja Trust Scholar. In 2023, Roman joined the Junior Department of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire as a Visiting Lecturer, and in 2025 he became a member of the Senior Department faculty. He has been invited to give masterclasses at institutions such as RGS Worcester, Hereford Sixth Form College, and for the participants of the 2024 Young Pianists Programme in Dublin, Ireland.
