Colin Lawson CBE has an international profile as a period clarinettist and has played principal in most of Britain's leading period orchestras, notably The Hanover Band, The English Concert and the London Classical Players, with whom he has recorded extensively and toured world-wide.   Described as 'a brilliant, absolutely world-class player' ( Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung)  and ‘the doyen of period clarinettists' ( BBC Music Magazine ), he has appeared as soloist in many international venues, including New York's Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.    His extensive discography includes concertos by Fasch, Hook, Mahon, Mozart, Spohr, Telemann, Vivaldi and Weber, as well as a considerable variety of chamber music. Colin has also published widely on historical performance practice, especially for Cambridge University Press.   His most recent publication is a jointly edited volume for Routledge entitled Inside the Contemporary Conservatoire: Perspectives from the Royal College of Music, London, which takes as its point of departure the RCM's founding principle of excellence, advocacy and access. Following studies at Oxford and Birmingham Universities and academic appointments at the Universities of Aberdeen, Sheffield, Goldsmiths and Thames Valley, he served as Director of the Royal College of Music between 2005 and 2024, where he continues to hold a Chair of Historical Performance.

Renowned pianist and pedagogue Vanessa Latarche is Head of Keyboard and Chair of International Keyboard Studies at the Royal College of Music, where she was awarded a Fellowship in 2010 and a Personal Chair in 2011. She also serves as the College's Associate Director for Partnerships in Asia, supporting major artistic and educational collaborations across the region. Celebrated for both her teaching and performing career, Vanessa has appeared throughout Europe, the USA and Asia, and has performed with leading orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. A Steinway Artist, she has broadcast widely on BBC Radio 3 and featured in the BBC Two documentary marking Queen Victoria's bicentenary. Highly sought after as an adjudicator, she is Artistic Director of Hastings International Piano and Head of Jury for the Internationaler Bach Wettbewerb Leipzig. Vanessa also gives masterclasses internationally and serves as Artistic Advisor to the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. She has served 12 years on the RCM Council, is on the Court of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and is a Director of the Eileen Rowe Musical Trust, which supports pianists from the Ealing area
