Olga Paliy is a Ukrainian pianist successfully combining performance and research in her musical career. Giving her first solo recital at the age of thirteen Olga received her musical education in the Ukraine and the UK. She became a graduate of Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev in 2006, where she was selected for a Presidential Scholarship, as well as Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester in 2009 and 2011, as a student of Norma Fisher. After successful completion of her research at the RNCM under the primary supervision of David Horne Olga was awarded PhD in April 2017. In her research Olga concentrated on Russian composer Sergey Taneyev and the way he influenced his contemporaries with further exploration of the practice and performance strategies. Olga's appearances in numerous international piano competitions led her to winning the top prizes in Ragusa-Ibla International Music Competition (Italy, 1997), The Art of 20th Century, (Italy, 1998), The Art of Accompaniment (Ukraine, 2004), The Emmanuel Prize (UK, 2009) and Sussex International Piano Competition (UK, 2014). Olga gave her orchestral debut in 2002 performing Bethoveen's Third Piano Concerto with Kiev State Symphony Orchestra as a part of Kiev Music Summer Academy. Since then she has worked extensively with Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, Dnepropetrovsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Beethoven Orchestra and Worthing Symphony Orchestra engaging her audience with concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Prokofiev. Olga has been also appearing widely as a recitalist and chamber musician in major venues in the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Ukraine interpreting wide range of repertoire, from Bach and Scarlatti to Carl Vine and James MacMillan. Away from the piano Olga is a passionate singer and traveller.
