Karen, a multiple award winner and prominent artist on the jazz scene will be appearing with her long established line-up of Nikki Iles, Dave Green and Steve Brown - world class musicians who also happen to be great friends. Karen, herself a winner of multiple British jazz awards, is an established figure on the UK jazz scene and works with a broad variety of musicians and ensembles including the Nikki Iles Jazz Orchestra, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra, her own trio featuring guitarist Colin Oxley and bassist Simon Thorpe and her quartet. Nikki Iles is known across the globe for her piano playing and extraordinary writing for which she has won numerous awards. She is in demand as visiting director for big bands across Europe and in 2022 was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to music.
Dave Green and Steve Brown have a strong musical bond developed over many years of playing together with Scott Hamilton amongst many others. Dave Green spent time playing with Stan Tracey as well as American starts such as Zoom Sims, Sonny Rollins, Ben Webster and Al Cohn and is know for his impeccable timing, tone and creativity. Steve is one of the busiest drummers on the scene and has worked with numerous American artists including Barry Harris, Art Farmer, Junior Mance and Peter Bernstein.
Together, these four musicians create a unique sound that is warm, spontaneous and exciting, incorporating free flowing improvisation with almost telepathic ensemble playing. They have recorded two albums to date, 'Spirit' and 'The Sun, the Moon and You' both of which include familiar, lesser-known and original tunes showcasing the unique spirit of a band with a shared passion for strong melodies, group interplay and respect for the jazz tradition.
