The Grier Trio consists of Savitri (violin) and Indira (cello) playing with their father, Francis Grier (piano). They have played at St John's, Smith Square and at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, as well as in the Blackheath Halls concert series, and they regularly perform at St Mary's, Perivale. In 2016 they played at All Souls, Oxford, and in the Holywell Music Room for the Oxford Chamber Music Society. In 2017 they performed the Beethoven Triple Concerto in the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge, with the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra directed by Stephen Cleobury.

Born in 1992 Savitri read Music at Christ Church, Oxford and in 2017 completed her Artist Diploma at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama studying with David Takeno. She was selected for representation by the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2015 and this autumn takes up a place at the Universität der Künste Berlin in Nora Chastain's class. Over the last year Savitri has made her debut at Carnegie's Weill Hall & Wigmore Hall, and appeared as soloist with the Bournemouth Symphony, English Chamber, Welsh National Opera and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. She gave recitals, and took part in festivals and masterclasses across Europe including IMS Prussia Cove, East Neuk Festival retreat, Krzyzowa: Music for Europe in Poland, the St Magnus, Bury St Edmunds & Harrogate International festivals. A committed chamber musician Savitri has collaborated with Susan Tomes, Christoph Richter, Steven Isserlis, Andrew Marriner, Krzysztof Chorzelski, Alasdair Beatson & Richard Uttley. Savitri plays on a Matteo Goffriller violin on generous loan from the Aidan Woodcock Charitable Trust.

Indira is currently studying with Alexander Chaushian. Previously she was taught by Melissa Phelps and then by Troels Svane at the Musikhochschule Luebeck. Indira has twice been awarded the Junior Guilhermina Suggia Gift (2010 & 2012), and has been a prize-winner at the 2012 Bromsgrove International Young Musicians Platform, the 2014 Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition and the 2016 Royal Over-seas League Competition. Indira has performed across the UK and in Germany, Switzerland and Italy and has participated in masterclasses such as the Schleswig-Holstein Festival with Frans Helmerson, and IMS Prussia Cove. She read English Literature at UCL, and started her Masters at the Royal College of Music in September 2017 where she has been awarded the Hargreaves and Ball Trust scholarship. Indira is grateful for the support of the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

Francis Grier used to be organist of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, and gave the first ever Prom concert given over to a solo performer in 1985. He is now a psychoanalyst and composer. In 2006 his Passion, commissioned by the BBC and VocalEssence in Minneapolis was described by the Independent as “a work of vital attack, shivering beauty and compelling power...”, and by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as “a modern masterpiece.” He was awarded a British Composer Award for his Missa Brevis (2011) for St Paul's Cathedral. He is currently writing Ave Maris Stella for York Minster's 2017 Carol Service and an oratorio, Before All Worlds, for performance by the choir of King's College, Cambridge, in 2018. As a chamber music pianist he has performed with Colin Carr, Louise Williams, Andrew Marriner, and Dorothee Jansen. Recently he recorded with Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis.
