The Temple Ensemble is a mixed chamber ensemble based in London. Formed by clarinettist Poppy Beddoe at the Royal Academy of Music, the group is made up of a core of string quartet, double bass, horn, bassoon and clarinet following the form of Schubert's Octet. In order to accommodate the huge breadth of repertoire, the ensemble expands and contracts according to the demands of our chosen programmes.

The group is now well established in London and further afield. We recently reached the semi-finals of the Royal Overseas League competition and have regular engagements in London, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire as well as upcoming engagements with the Faversham Music Club, at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and in the churches of Great Rissington, Wimpole and Weston Colville. The group made their Wigmore Hall debut In 2016 for the For Crying Out Loud series.

Each year the ensemble embarks on an annual tour of the Lot and Tarn regions in France and includes engagements in Conques Abbey, Decazeville and Ambres. The tour is a wonderful experience as all of the venues are stunning and the audiences are very appreciative indeed: each of the concerts this year brought return invitations and we have already been booked for 7 concerts in 2017.

The group has enjoyed successful collaborations with singers from the Royal College of Music and with several contemporary composers. We were a featured artist in a NonClassical concert in June 2015 and relished the opportunity to explore the diverse repertoire this experience provided. We are extremely grateful for the sponsorship of the John Ireland Trust, Froma Zeitlin and Woodwind and Reed, Cambridge as well as the continued support of the numerous friends of the ensemble. For more information about sponsoring or becoming a friend of the ensemble please contact Poppy Beddoe: poppybeddoe1@gmail.com . The ensemble is grateful for sponsorship from the Nicholas Boas Charitable Trust
