The Barbican Chamber Orchestra is a new ensemble formed in March 2013, comprising some of London's most talented music students. The majority of the players are students at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, and Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Many of the orchestra's principal musicians are at the forefront of musical talent of their generation in the UK and have begun to succeed in their own right as soloists and chamber musicians, in some cases on the international stage. Everyone involved is passionate about its success. The distinctive character of the orchestra is our fresh, dynamic approach to classics, which combines youthful vitality and the collective responsibility and intimacy of chamber music with a maturity of musical outlook that belies our age. The BCO Artists' Series is an offshoot from the orchestra, bringing together the principal players to form chamber music ensembles, performing in venues in and around London.
