Tommaso Carlini was born in 1989 in Italy and began piano at the age of six. He graduated from the Rome Music Conservatoire in 2010, achieving a first class degree with distinction and an honour mention for artistic value. He then pursued a Master's degree at the G. Verdi Music Conservatoire in Milan, where he graduated in 2016 after studying with Giovanni Bellucci. He is currently pursuing a second Master's at the Luzern Hochschule of Music, studying piano with Konstantin Lifschitz and composition with Dieter Ammann. During his studies he has received various awards, including a three months scholarship at the “Toho Gakuen School” in Tokyo. Among other notables, he has taken master classes with Elisso Virsaladze, Michele Campanella, Leslie Howard and Andrzej Jasinski.

Tommaso has performed as a soloist and as an orchestral accompanist in several prestigious Halls throughout Italy, as well as in France, Germany and Switzerland. He has participated in numerous national and international festivals and competitions. He won first prize in International Piano Competitions for Young Pianists in Rome (in both San Gemini and Anemos) and in Osimo. In 2013 he was semi-finalist with distinction in the X Darmstadt International Chopin Piano Competition and in 2014 he was awarded the special “A. Arnaboldi” prize in the Cantu Piano and Orchestra Competition. In 2015 he was honoured to play in the Darmstadt Chopin Marathon - an exciting event during which all of Chopin's 204 solo piano compositions were performed in one continuous session in the date order that they had been composed - a world first in that format.

Tommaso plays a wide repertoire of classical music but specializes in the works of Chopin and Liszt. His performances during 2016 have also included, for example, major works by Bach, Bartok, Beethoven, Haydn, Hummel, Mozart, Paderewski, Schumann and Thalberg. His first CD - of Chopin's 1838-39 Majorca compositions (including the ‘Funeral March' Sonata op35) - was released in 2015 by “Finest Art Records” (NAXOS). He is planning a second CD for next year of Liszt's 12 Transcendental Etudes.
